Pleats and drapery are representing luxury, abundance, opulence and vitality in the cloth. Each textile material has its characteristic folds, its uniqueness in its three-dimensional appearance - a quality which often remains concealed.
A photograph of the textile fold is the basis for a graphically reducted print. The abstraction by screening is mainly visible from a close up. Viewed at a distance, the point blends with the surface and exposes the character of the material. Even in a smooth state, the textile has a spatial effect; if additionally it falls into folds, an intriguing doubling occurs.
